How is an alarm triggered?

Frequently asked questions about JAMES (FAQ)

Yes, after purchasing and activating the watch, it can be used for one month can be tested free of charge.
Please note: If the watch is activated at the time of purchase, the delivery time also counts towards this test period.

The basic tariff is necessary for the JAMES watch to work.
Your advantage: The basic tariff already includes a Europe-wide roaming SIM card - This means no additional effort for you!

The tariff also includes:

  • Use of the JAMES app with a user-friendly web portal.
  • Reliable alerting of the emergency call chain with up to 10 contacts that can be stored.
  • The localisation and position query of the watch.
  • Premium support from our JAMES hotline.

With the Additional tariff "Emergency call centre" you can supplement the basic tariff with maximum security and convenience. A professional, Emergency call centre manned 24/7 guarantees that a JAMES helper responds reliably to every alarm. If no relative takes over the alarm, the control centre immediately takes care of it and provides the necessary support - and the JAMES helper is there to help. at any time of day and also on public holidays!

An emergency call is triggered by pressing and holding the emergency call button on your JAMES watch for at least three seconds.

The watch then emits an acoustic signal, giving you the option of cancelling an unintentional alarm by pressing the button again. If the emergency call is not cancelled, the watch automatically starts calling your stored emergency contacts one after the other until a voice connection is established. At the same time, all emergency contacts are informed of the emergency by text message and receive your current location.

The JAMES emergency watches mainly use SIM cards from the Swedish provider TELE2 with the dialling code +46which automatically connects the watch to the strongest available network in supported countries.

Galaxy (Samsung) emergency watches are equipped with eSIM cards from the Swiss company SWISSCOM, which also ensures optimum network connections. The dialling code is: +41.

In the event of an emergency, there are no additional costs for assistance.

However, if the watch is called by the helper outside of an emergency - i.e. for a normal phone call - small additional charges may be incurred, depending on the mobile phone contract. Thanks to EU regulations, which have significantly reduced roaming costs, these costs for "personal calls" are usually minimal and negligible. As the manufacturer, we have no influence on the costs of your telephone provider.

No, it doesn't have to. The JAMES emergency watch works independently of a mobile phone or smartphone. The watch can be set up or operated directly.

The JAMES app only offers additional convenience for relatives: they can use it to make settings on the watch or conveniently call up certain values, such as the location.

The JAMES app is primarily used to conveniently manage and monitor the emergency watch. It offers relatives and helpers an overview of the status of the watch and the option of making settings conveniently.

Important: Ordinary helpers do not need the app to respond in an emergency.

For relatives, however, the free app is a practical tool for using various functions of the watch, such as location queries or customising alarm contacts. The app is available for Android, iOS and also via a browser (web portal), thus ensuring maximum flexibility.

JAMES emergency watches are available throughout Europe. However, there are only a few dealers where the watches can be viewed on site.

However, to give you the opportunity to test the watch without obligation, we offer a free trial month. If you are not satisfied, you can return the watch free of charge after the trial period.

Yes, all JAMES B and R models are equipped with a fall sensor. However, it is important to know that, for technical reasons, the fall detection of all emergency watches on the market cannot yet guarantee 100% reliable detection of all types of falls. It is also important that the watches do not trigger a (false) alarm every time they are hit.

Examples of different types of falls:

  • Dizziness: The watch wearer slides slowly to the ground, supports themselves beforehand, e.g. on a chair, and only then falls over. Although the impact is minor, injuries (e.g. to the back or hips) can occur.

  • Stumble: A person trips over the edge of a carpet and falls hard to the floor. Such falls are usually recognised reliably.

  • Unintentional movements: Movements such as hitting the table with your hand can trigger a fall alarm. JAMES intelligently recognises such false alarms and does not forward them to helpers.

How does the camber sensor work?

  1. Sensitivity adjustable: The triggering of the sensor can be adjusted in three sensitivity levels - very sensitive (watch triggers even with slight vibrations), medium or low.

  2. Detection of false alarms: After a fall is detected, the watch gives the wearer 20 seconds to cancel the alarm directly on the watch. JAMES also automatically checks whether it is a false alarm, for example due to movements that do not indicate a real fall.

Manual alarm triggering:
In most cases, wearers can trigger the alarm manually after a fall. As most people are not unconscious after a fall or only lose consciousness for a short time, this is a reliable way of calling for help.

Note:

It is important that the watch is always worn! In most emergencies - whether a fall, fear or danger - help is then just a push of a button away!

Vital signs are usually measured manually by the wearer of the watch. An automated measurement can also be carried out as an option. This must be entered by the assistant.

What vital signs are measured?
The type of vital data that can be measured depends on the respective model of the JAMES watch:

All models: Steps and heart rate

B models: Additionally blood pressure, oxygen saturation and temperature

By flexibly adjusting the measurement intervals, you can optimise vital data recording to suit your needs.

Simply enjoy everyday life.
JAMES takes care of the rest.

Elderly man with the JAMES emergency watch on his wrist
Thanks to the JAMES emergency bracelet, I always know about my mother's well-being. The APP shows me her daily steps. If I don't notice any movement by noon, I can always ask if she is okay.
Mrs Haslinger
Daughter
Since I have the JAMES B6 with me on my walks, I feel much safer. If I fall, I no longer have to worry about having to wait a long time for help. I just press the emergency button and my son is called. Besides, the watch looks very fashionable.
Mr Kohler
Sprightly senior
I live alone and suffer from dizziness. A short time ago, I fainted in the kitchen and hit my head. But the fall sensor of the great JAMES watch reacted immediately and after a short time automatically called my emergency call centre. Since JAMES, I feel safer than ever in my own home.
Mrs Stelzl
Senior living alone
My father has dementia and lives in a nursing home. For his safety, he wears the JAMES Emergency Watch S6 with runaway protection. In addition, his care organisation uses the JAMES tablet for video telephony. Thanks to the tablet, I can see him by video call without worrying, even during the pandemic.
