  • Austria, Germany, most EU countries:
JAMES almost exclusively uses SIM cards from the Swedish provider TELE2. This allows the emergency call centre in these countries to connect to the strongest available network, regardless of the provider. The dialling code for these TELE2 SIM cards is: +46.

  • Switzerland:
In Switzerland, SIM cards from the SWISSCOM for use. The excellent network coverage and reliability make SWISSCOM the first choice. All JAMES emergency watches of the Galaxy model (Samsung) are supplied with eSIM cards from the Swiss company SWISSCOM. The dialling code is: +41.

The JAMES emergency watches are aimed at senior citizens and people in need of care of all ages. In addition, the clock can be customised to the wearer's individual needs and living situations, e.g. for use in a care home or in dementia mode.

We therefore recommend removing the watch when showering and placing it within easy reach so that you can reach it quickly if necessary.

  1. Calibration of the clock:
The clock should first be calibrated. The best way to do this is to place the clock in the open air. In the JAMES app or on the web portal, you can then click on the "Calibration" Press . Alternatively, the clock can be calibrated by checking the position several times in succession.

  2. Technologies for localisation:
The watch uses various technologies for localisation, depending on which are available. Please note, however, that GPS usually does not work indoors (e.g. in buildings). In such cases, the watch may provide an inaccurate position.

  3. Use WLAN for better localisation:
If you have Wi-Fi at home, you can use it for more precise localisation. To do this, proceed as follows:
  • Open the JAMES app or the web portal and navigate to "Editing data of the person being cared for".
  • Enter the exact address of the person being cared for.
  • Select "Indoor localisation" and press the button "Search beacons".
  • If available WLANs appear in the list, select 2-3 WLANs with "add" off. Make sure you select WLANs with signal strengths close to 50.
  • Give each WLAN a name such as WiFi1, WiFi2etc.
  • Do not forget to save each WLAN entry.

    Then query position again:
As soon as the Wi-Fi settings are complete, you can query the position of the watch again to check the localisation.

There are many watches on the market that claim to offer reliable fall detection based on motion sensors. However, the reality is often different, as a fall is very difficult to detect. Here are some examples:

  • DizzinessThe watch wearer slides slowly to the floor and supports himself partially, e.g. on a chair.
  • StumbleA person trips over the edge of the carpet and falls to the floor.
  • Unintentional movementsThe watch wearer slaps the table with his hand.

Such scenarios are difficult to recognise clearly. All B and R models from JAMES have a fall sensor, but this only works to a limited extent. It can happen that the sensor triggers too often or does not react if the impact is too low. You can switch the fall sensor on or off as required at any time via the JAMES app.

The S model from JAMES offers an alternative solution: an integrated Inactivity sensor. This signals an alarm if the clock is not moved for a certain time (e.g. 15 minutes - 8 time levels can be set).

At JAMES, we are constantly working to improve fall detection. However, we know from experience that the Best security is achieved, if the watch is worn regularly. In most emergencies - whether it's a fall, fear or danger - help is then just a push of a button away!

The battery lasts for approx. three to four days. However, we recommend charging the watch for approx. 30 minutes every day.
